Rockets snatched a dramatic victory against the Lakers

James Harden and Eric Gordon scored 78 points to lead the Houston Rockets to a 21-point lead and a 138-134 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers after extra time in the NBA.

The Rockets were in a critical position after a 21-point lead in the second quarter, with the Lakers firmly in control of Hardin, who only scored 16 points in the first half.

But the Rockets rallied and narrowed the gap to four points before the start of the fourth quarter.

With the Lakers advancing three points to 4.9 seconds from the end and control of Hardin, the owner turned to Gordon, who equalized with a three-pointer.

Rockets did not give his opponent the opportunity in extra time to win his fifth successive win and third in three games this season.

The Lakers won the Rockets once in the last nine encounters on December 20, 2017.

Hardin finished the game with 48 points, the 19th time in a row, scoring at least 30 points.

Harden needed to repeat it once when he took the Philadelphia Celtics on Monday to replace Wilt Chamberlain with at least 30 points in 20 consecutive games, the longest since 1964.

Chamberlain has the record when he scored at least 30 points in 65 consecutive games.

Gordon scored 30 points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Rockets are fifth in the Western Division with 26 wins and 19 defeats.

Kyle Kuzma was the Lakers' top scorer with 32 points while Brandon Ingram added 21 points.

The Lakers still suffer in the absence of LeBron James due to a thigh injury.

The Lakers slipped to ninth place in the West after losing 22 to 25 wins.
