The United Nations announces the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization

The United Nations announced that the United States of America informed the Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, on Monday, of its withdrawal from the World Health Organization, and that this would take effect on Monday.

The United Nations indicated, in a statement on Tuesday, that the Secretary-General is in the process of verifying with the World Health Organization whether all conditions for this withdrawal are fulfilled.

It is noteworthy that the United States has been a party to the WHO constitution since June 21, 1948, and the World Health Assembly accepted the United States' participation in the World Health Organization under certain conditions set by the United States for its final withdrawal from the organization, including giving one year notice and fully fulfilling the payment of estimated financial obligations.
